Partner - Gurney Consulting Engineers

Joined the Partnership in May 1988 and responsible for the technical/engineering and general management of projects and the Practice. The work managed includes the full spectrum of projects undertaken, including offices and retail projects, industrial buildings and investigations/surveys and reports.

Employed as Senior Engineer from 1980 to April 1983 when appointed as Associate Partner, reporting directly to a Senior Partner. Responsible for the structural conception of projects and supervision of engineers and technicians for a wide range of projects, including industrial and hi-tech buildings, office and commercial developments, together with the refurbishment of old buildings. Responsible for computer development within the Practice.

Project Engineer
Responsible for the design and supervision on site of multi-storey (up to 33 storeys) residential and commercial developments, together with tender assessments in conjunction with the Quantity Surveyors. Also responsible for large and small site formation projects gaining wide experience in New Town infrastructure.

Member of a team assessing the effects of the construction of the Mass Transit Railway on existing buildings and roads.

Design Detailer/Engineer
Responsible to the Associate Partner for the design and supervision of multi-storey office buildings, industrial and factory buildings, also low rise flats using loadbearing brickwork.

Design/Detailer
Responsible for the structural design of various aspects of the Barnsley Town Centre Redevelopment.
